Jan Václav Stich-Punto (1746-1803) was a Czech composer and mainly a French horn virtuoso. He was born in Žehušice in the Czech Republic, but went to study and gave concerts all over Europe, where he changed his name to Giovanni Punto.
He wrote 14 concerts for French horn and many other chamber compositions.
There are 24 duets in the book. The large number of songs at a slow tempo suggests that the French horn was considered a melodic instrument at the time.
Few songs are fanfare or faster tempo. That's why we can enjoy these beautiful melodies.
