An Officer and… an Idealist is the first book in a four-book series. The books are an accumulation of short stories, and three major incidents, which occurred during my time as a Wichita Police Officer from 1990 to 2004. I never thought I could feel so much joy, sorrow, giddiness, or anger, and never dreamed about how hard the challenges would be or the abundant fulfilment from the job. Being a police officer changed me over the fourteen years featured in this series, not to mention the next nineteen years of my career. Sometimes the situations police officers find themselves in are stranger than fiction. You just can’t make this up. These books are a great guide for any officer or anyone thinking about becoming an officer because I learned from the blunders and achievements of officers before me, as well as my own. Additionally, these books are a great way to help humanize officers if you are looking to understand what they do, how they think, and what they feel.
All the proceeds for An Officer and…an Idealist will be given to the National Fraternal Order of Police Foundation, for officers in need.
