WHAT MOVED?

Before asking what something means, what if we first watched where it moved?

CAST OUT: THE MOVEMENT OF THE WITNESSES begins with a simple observation: Satan is cast down. But then another movement appears—a rising in religious places, a lifting through words, persuasion, appearance, agreement, and spectacle.

Rather than rushing to explain it, Ray Harthcock Sr. begins calling the witnesses.

CAST DOWN.
RISING.
LIFTED UP.
PUFFED UP.

The trail moves through Scripture, following verbs, directions, voices, relationships, and even the smallest prepositions. UP is not automatically good. DOWN is not automatically evil. OUT does not always mean rejection. Gathering does not necessarily prove truth. Even the same movement can carry an entirely different testimony depending upon its source, direction, relationship, and purpose.

The question therefore becomes more careful:

WHAT MOVED?
FROM WHENCE?
WHOSE VOICE?
BY WHAT WAY?

CAST OUT approaches Scripture as a courtroom rather than a dictionary. The witnesses are allowed to testify without being forced prematurely into agreement. Apparent contradictions are preserved long enough for distinctions to become visible.

From deception and persuasion to pride, knowledge, desire, spectacle, religious authority, and the movements that gather people toward conflict, the investigation keeps returning to one governing posture:

I SEE THE MOVEMENT
BEFORE I UNDERSTAND
THE MOVEMENT.

And gradually the investigation turns toward the person holding the book.

What have I received?
Where did it come from?
Whose voice am I hearing?
What happens in me when Scripture contradicts what I think I already know?

This is not a book offering another system to possess or another group of people to condemn.

It is an invitation to watch.

To hear.

To preserve the testimony.

To call another witness.

NOT BY SOLVING THEM.
BY ARRANGING THEM.

THE WITNESSES MUST INTERPRET.
