Chasing Horizons is the story of discovering overlanding, building a rig one lesson at a time, and realizing that sometimes the places worth finding are the ones that take a little more effort to reach.

Wyatt Zollinger didn’t begin with a perfectly built overland truck or years of expedition experience. He started with a Toyota Tundra, some basic camping gear, a desire to explore, and the willingness to see what was waiting around the next bend.

One trip became another. The truck evolved. The destinations became farther away. And somewhere between remote desert camps, alpine lakes, mountain trails, hidden beaches, river crossings, breakdowns, campfires, and thousands of miles on the road, overlanding became more than a hobby.

It became a reset.

Part personal story, part overlanding guide, and part photographic journey, Chasing Horizons explores the history and culture of overlanding, choosing and building a capable vehicle, planning an adventure, lessons learned on the trail, and the pursuit of destinations that make the journey worthwhile.

But this isn’t a book about how much gear you can bolt onto a truck.

It’s about why we go.

It’s about waking up somewhere completely removed from everyday life. Finding a trail you’ve never driven. Watching the sun come up over a place you worked hours to reach. Sitting around a fire with good friends. Learning from the trips that don’t go according to plan. And discovering how much of the world is still out there when you’re willing to go looking for it.

Filled with photographs from real adventures throughout California and beyond, Chasing Horizons follows one overlander’s evolution from those first uncertain trips to a life increasingly shaped by exploration, friendship, faith, and the need to roam.

You don’t need a six-figure overland build to start.

You don’t need to have everything figured out.

You just need a reason to go.

There will always be another road. Another trail. Another destination. Another horizon.
