The second edition of this extensively revised and updated text is a result of the positive feedback and constructive suggestions received from academics and students alike. It discusses the fundamentals as well as the advances in digital image processing and analysis—both theory and practice—to fulfil the needs of students pursuing courses in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It is also considered useful for teachers, professional engineers and researchers. The second edition has three objectives. First, each and every chapter has been modified in the light of recent advances as well as emerging concepts. Second, a good deal of colour image processing has been incorporated. Third, some new problems have been added in almost all chapters to test the student’s understanding of the real-life problems.
