DISTILLED SKIN is a photographic project in which body, landscape and language gradually lose their boundaries. Each image begins as a black-and-white photograph and is transformed through custom Python code in which written text replaces tonal information. From a distance, the photograph emerges. From close range, the image dissolves into language. Across the sequence, a visitor enters a territory believing it can be measured, mapped and understood. As observation deepens, certainty begins to fail. The landscape changes, distance loses meaning, and the distinction between observer and surface slowly disappears. The final images fragment and recombine the original photographs, creating a new visual reality in which body, memory, text and terrain become inseparable. Distilled Skin is part of Distilling Code, Claudio Gobber’s ongoing exploration of photography, perception, reduction and transformation.
