This comical backstager tells what happens when someone not unlike Saturday Night Live's Stefon puts on a Broadway musical. This one is about Vikings and cannibals, with a chorus of sexy men wearing little more than warrior masks and cutlery, and the hero is a devastating black muscleman who can neither sing, dance, nor act.
But lo, it is so peculiar that it must be art, as the librettist and the songwriter fight over everything, the librettist's girlfriend plays a cold Norse divinity yet wants to sing a love ballad, and somebody's sister is at war with her "monster-in-law."
Now add in a campy producer, an avant-garde choreographer, an incomprehensively sophisticated script, and the hero's big battle with the cannibal played as a quiz show.
What could go wrong?
