In God’s Complex, the afterlife runs like a nervous corporation: angels triage prayers, miracles move through a Firewall, and God, rattled by His own slipping authority, is increasingly tempted to manage creation from a safer distance. As lenders, PR teams, donors, consultants, and institutional busybodies try to turn care into metrics and meaning into policy, a battered warehouse floor becomes the center of an improvised resistance built on stop cards, tape lines, forklifts, coffee, and people who know how to do unglamorous work well.

At the heart of it are Penelope, who can read a system without worshipping it; Glen Washington, a laid-off fixer with a gift for making strangers useful to one another; and St. Thecla, Heaven’s exhausted operator, who suspects that small jobs done well may be the only miracles worth trusting.

Sharp, fast, and very funny, God’s Complex is a divine workplace satire about management, faith, and the danger of measuring meaning to death.
