Looking Back -Flashbacks, Glimpses and Profiles of a Culture from A to Z” scratches the surface of some of the people involved in this culture (Reggae). The entertainers, the musicians, the lifestyle and the fashion (dancehall) are all part of this Cultural Revolution that has taken the world by storm.
In this book I have taken a brief look at veterans and upcoming artistes, stars, superstars and even mega-stars, local and foreign artistes, all involved in the culture of Reggae. I journeyed into the dancehall and gave you a look at the “dancehall juggling” and for those who plan on visiting the Island, there is a brief summary of the capital city Kingston.
You will find stories on Bob Marley, Garnett Silk, Diana king, Beenie-Man, Bounti Killa, Buju Banton, Luciano, Beres Hammond, Lady Saw, Tony Rebel and veteran artistes like Delroy Wilson, Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis, King Yellow Man, Burning Spear, John Holt and Derrick Morgan to name a few. I took a brief look at some of the artistes, some in more details than others, but that doesn’t mean that ‘any’ is more important than the ‘other’. I had to work with the limited information I had and could not have gone into all the details of every artiste.
My next book will treat the subject in a more detailed perspective.
