Late spring 2023.
Two years on from completing Wainwright’s Coast-to-Coast, Matt McKay is back on the trail in his homeland, taking on the TGO Challenge, an annual Scottish coast-to-coast backpacking adventure where participants design their own bespoke route.
Matt reflects on those two years, which begin positively until unexpected interventions from an old antagonist prove to be the catalyst for an ultimately necessary chain of events, leading to satisfactory closure from a troublesome period of his life.
During the hike, Matt also reflects on other adventures undertaken, particularly Offa's Dyke Path in 2022.
The 2023 TGO Challenge provides a plethora of quirky occurrences, new friendships, a fresh sense of belonging, and one purely chance encounter which sends Matt's life in a new direction . . .
