My name is Ava Patino, and in August of last year I was sitting in the Mt. Sinai psych ward trying to figure out how to have a purpose again. I have a degree in theater history, and I grew up with theater parents that spoon fed me, not disney, but Gypsy and Company and Into the Woods. And everyone in my life was telling me to write. I sat there, in the place with heavy chairs, and couldn't imagine a year from that moment. I couldn't imagine six months from that moment. But still, I mapped out on my computer a schedule that would take me until July to finish. And then I started listening... specifically... to Stephen Sondheim.
