The book includes 110 positions, taken from the games of Garry Kasparov. All the positions feature characteristic pawn play. You have to grab a pawn and play it. The explanations follow why this particular move or game plan is well indicated. The positions bear largely strategic undertones, presenting different positional approaches, based on pawn handling, like gaining tempo, securing particular board squares, limiting the activity of enemy pieces, controlling the center, gaining space, prophylaxis, stopping enemy counterplay, using storming pawns for attack, making enemy pawns isolated and backward penalties, different types of breaks to activate one's pieces etc. This will largely improve your ability to spot and execute general strategic patterns. There is nothing more important strategically than pawn play, pawns are the most numerous pieces on the board, hence they involve the largest number of moves with strategic implications, and knowing to handle them properly represents a significant asset.
