These two words represented the promise, if I could master the rapid, relentless repetition of six simple steps, success could be mine. The idea of “The System” brought me hope. A system meant that I had a way of achieving my goals not simply because of me, but in spite of me. I had many concerns about me, but not the system. The next several years I would do my best to learn and run the system, and I’ve been fortunate to have had a measure of success because of it.
The Psychology of the System is the result of my years of experience in running the system, sometimes very well, often times not.
Otto von Bismarck once said “Only a fool learn from his own mistakes. The wise man learns from the mistakes of others.” I would love to say that I am truly a wise man, but the truth is that much of what I have learned has been through my own experience, experience actually meaning making mistakes, in running “The System.”
They say it is not so hard to walk on water if someone tells you where all the rocks are first. This book is about me finding those rocks, and all the missteps as well, and it is dedicated to those entrepreneurs wise enough to learn from the mistakes of others. It is a combination of what I have learned about the system, about people, and even about myself as I’ve had ventured build my own company within a company.
