For decades, the limits of computing have been treated as physical inevitabilities. Heat, power, and scaling constraints were assumed to arise from transistors, materials, and fabrication. Entire industries were built around managing those limits rather than questioning their origin. This book documents a different explanation. The dominant energy cost in modern computing does not arise from switching speed, device density, or imperfect materials.
